Six services, all run from the one grading bench

Everything YIELD DIAMOND LIMITED does happens at 6/F Lai Cheung House, 92 Robinson Rd, Mid-Levels, Hong Kong - 999077, Hong Kong (HK). There is no branch counter and no second room, which means the person who reads your stone is the person who writes the note and answers the follow-up call.

The bench does not pretend to cover every need a stone owner might have. It covers six things well, and those six are described plainly below, including the parts most rooms leave out. If your case sits between two of them, say so on the phone and the bench will tell you which one applies.

Bench one

Certification Review Sessions

A certification review is a guided reading of a stone beside the document that travels with it. You bring the report, whether it came from a major laboratory or a smaller regional one, and the bench sits the stone under the loupe lamp with the paper open on the tray. The session works through colour, clarity, proportions and finish, then compares each reading against what the certificate states.

Most reviews take forty minutes to an hour. The bench does not reprint certificates and does not alter documents of any kind; what you get is a written bench note explaining where the stone and the paper agree, where the language is broader than it first appears, and what a future buyer will likely look at first. Clients who are about to sell find this the single most useful hour before any negotiation begins.

Bench two

Private Viewing Appointments

The viewing bench is booked for one party at a time, with the tray rail prepared before you arrive. Stones are laid out with their lot tags, the caliper is set on its stand and the lamp arch is positioned so you can swing it to the angle you prefer. There is no queue behind you and no clock on the wall.

Where the schedule allows, viewings are held in daylight hours so the arch light can be compared honestly with ordinary room light, which is how a stone will be seen after it leaves the bench. You may bring a companion, a jeweller or an independent adviser. Cameras and hand loupes are welcome, and notes are encouraged. The bench asks only that stones are not removed from the tray.

Bench three

Estate Stone Consignment

Estate work arrives in boxes, envelopes and old pouches, often with paperwork that has not been touched in forty years. The bench inventories each item on receipt, weighs it, photographs it and records the condition exactly as found. Nothing is cleaned or polished before that record is made, because the record is what protects the family and the trustee alike.

Consigned stones are then held under a written schedule that sets out the asking basis, the time on the rail and the reporting interval. Every movement between trays is logged. When a piece is placed with a buyer, the settlement is documented against the lot tag, and when a piece is withdrawn the same tag closes the file. Families receive a plain-language summary at each stage rather than a spreadsheet.

Bench four

Resale Market Appraisals

A resale appraisal answers a narrower question than an insurance valuation: what will this stone actually bring, to whom, and how long will it take. The bench prices against observed transactions rather than catalogue optimism, adjusts for the certificates actually in hand, and separates the figure from the fees and the timeline.

The written appraisal states its assumptions openly. If a stone needs a fresh report before it can sell at the upper band, the note says so and puts an estimated cost beside it. If the condition caps the realistic figure, the note says that too. Owners often arrive expecting one number and leave with a range, which is the more honest instrument for a market that moves between seasons.

Bench five

Matching Pair Sourcing

Matching a pair is a bench exercise, not a shopping exercise. The first stone sets the target across face-up spread, table and depth proportion, make, tint and fluorescence behaviour. The bench then searches partner stones against that target and tests each candidate under the same lamp, because a stone that photographs well can still sit wrong beside its partner.

Sourcing runs on a defined window, usually four to eight weeks, with updates as candidates arrive. The bench will say plainly when a season holds nothing suitable rather than force a weak match. Where a near match is offered, the difference is described before any commitment, and the client decides whether the gap is acceptable for the setting intended.

Bench six

Insurance Paperwork Runs

Insurance deadlines do not move for anyone. Renewals, schedule amendments, address changes and post-loss documentation all require measurements, photographs and descriptions in the form the insurer has asked for. The bench assembles that package from its own readings so the policy language and the bench note agree with one another.

A run typically covers up to a dozen pieces in one sitting. The bench photographs each item against a neutral card, records the settings and any marks, and drafts descriptions that avoid inflated terms a claims adjuster might challenge later. The completed package is handed to the client to file; the bench does not correspond with insurers on the policyholder behalf unless a signed instruction is on file.

How the work is sequenced

Whether you arrive with one stone or a whole estate, the bench follows the same order. It keeps appointments predictable and makes the written record useful months later, when memory has softened.

  • EnquiryDescribe what you hold by phone or email. The bench confirms which service applies and what to bring.
  • IntakeEvery item is tagged, weighed and entered against a lot number before any reading begins.
  • ReadingStones are examined under the arch before the file is opened, so the eye is not led by existing paperwork.
  • ReviewThe document walkthrough sets the bench reading beside the certificate and explains every gap in plain language.
  • NoteA written bench note records the readings, the reservations and the agreed next step, dated and lot numbered.
  • Follow-upConsignment, sourcing or paperwork runs continue on the schedule agreed at the bench, with updates at each stage.

Tell the bench what you hold and it will tell you which of the six services fits. Email service@pacbrilliance.lat or call +14406995695.
