Private Stone Bench · Robinson Road

We read a stone the way a bench reads a stone, and then we help it GRADE

YIELD DIAMOND LIMITED keeps a small, patient grading room at 6/F Lai Cheung House, 92 Robinson Rd, Mid-Levels, Hong Kong - 999077, Hong Kong (HK), where every stone is inspected under a loupe lamp before a single word is written about it. The work is narrow on purpose: certification, matching and yield. We do not run a retail counter and we do not chase walk-in traffic.

A bench, not a showroom

YIELD DIAMOND LIMITED was set up for a group of clients who had been through the usual routes and found them thin. Families clearing an estate, trustees moving a collection, jewellers hunting for a second stone that actually behaves like the first, and owners who simply want a plain reading on the paperwork they already hold. None of them needed another glass case. They needed a bench with a light, a caliper and someone willing to look slowly.

The room on Robinson Road is deliberately quiet. There is one tray rail, one graded set of reference stones and a lamp arch that can be swung down to any angle. Appointments run one party at a time. Because the bench handles both the reading and the paperwork, the same person who inspects a stone can explain what the certificate in front of you is actually saying, and what it leaves unsaid.

Grade

Colour and clarity read by eye with reference comparison, then checked against the certificate on file. We write down what we see before we look at what we are told.

Match

A pair is not two stones of the same weight. Proportion, face-up spread, fluorescence behaviour and lustre all have to agree under the same lamp.

Yield

For estates and resale, yield means the honest number: what a stone can bring, at what cost and on what timetable, explained without theatre.

Record

Every session produces a written bench note. Lot tag, date, viewer, readings and any reservation are logged so nothing depends on memory.

Six services on the rail

Each mat below is a service that the bench actually performs. Read down the rail in any order; the sequence on the page is not a ranking, it is simply the way the trays sit on a working day.

D

Certification Review Sessions

You bring the report, we bring the lamp. A session sits the stone beside its document and walks through grading, measurements and any note that looks loose. Nothing is altered and nothing is reprinted; the goal is that you leave knowing exactly what the paper does and does not promise. See how certification reviews run.

Y

Private Viewing Appointments

The viewing room holds one party at a time and the trays are set out before you arrive. You get the lamp, the caliper and as long as the stone needs. Appointments are booked around daylight so the arch light can be compared honestly with the room light. Book the viewing bench.

I

Estate Stone Consignment

Stones that come out of a vault after forty years rarely arrive with tidy paperwork, and the bench is built for that. We inventory each piece, name the condition plainly and hold it on consignment under a written schedule so the family or the trustee can follow every step. Read the consignment terms.

E

Resale Market Appraisals

A resale appraisal is a different animal from an insurance valuation, and most people discover that too late. We price against what buyers have actually paid, adjust for the certificates in hand, and put a realistic timeline beside the figure. Understand resale appraisal.

L

Matching Pair Sourcing

Earrings fail when the second stone is bought by weight alone. We source the partner stone against the first one across spread, make, tint and fluorescence, and we are willing to say when the honest answer is that no good match exists this season. See the matching method.

D

Insurance Paperwork Runs

Renewals, schedule amendments and post-loss documentation all arrive with deadlines. The bench assembles measurements, photographs and plain descriptions, then files them in the form the insurer has actually asked for, so the policy speak and the bench note agree. Review the insurance runs.

YIELD DIAMOND LIMITED opens its autumn viewing window on the Robinson Road bench, and the tray rail is already set for the season. Ask for a slot before the calendar closes.

How a bench day actually moves

The order below is the order the bench uses, because it keeps the reading honest and the paperwork clean. Anyone who has sat through a rushed appraisal will recognise why each step is held to its place.

01

Intake and lot tag

Every stone is tagged on arrival, weighed on the bench scale and entered against a lot number. Existing certificates, invoices and any prior appraisals are logged as they are, not corrected in place.

02

Quiet reading

The client is asked to step back for this part. Colour, clarity and make are read under the arch before the file is opened, so the eye is not led by a grade already printed on paper.

03

Document walkthrough

The file comes out and the two readings are set side by side. Where they agree, the session says so quickly. Where they drift, the bench explains the gap in plain language and puts it in the written note.

What the bench will not do

It will not tell you a stone is a better grade than the reading supports, and it will not inflate a resale figure to soften a difficult conversation. Those two habits are the reason the room exists in the first place.

It also will not sell on a private client to another buyer without a written schedule, and it will not move a consigned stone between trays without a logged entry. If a client asks for a shortcut on paperwork, the answer is no, and the reason is explained rather than merely refused. The bench keeps its own record of every session at 6/F Lai Cheung House, and that record is what makes the next appointment quick.

If you hold a certificate you do not fully trust, or a pair that has never quite matched, or an estate box that has not been opened in years, the rail has a slot for it. Email service@pacbrilliance.lat or call +14406995695 and describe what you have.
